On August 25, 2011, as a project activity of the “Partnership for rural development of Despotovac Municipality” Project financed by EU Delegation in the Republic of Serbia and within the EXCHANGE 3 Programme, the first rural development fair called “Resava Rural” was held in Despotovac. The Fair was opened by the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Ljubisa Dobrosavljevic, who informed the exhibitors and visitors about the project activities which are to be implemented in Despotovac. Special emphasis was put on the fact that strengthening of the agricultural producers’ association and establishing of cooperation with Serbian and EU partners will improve institutional cooperation, strengthen bonds between all actors and sectors, and contribute to foundation of more efficient and effective mechanisms for enhancement of rural development of Despotovac Municipality.

It is planned to establish seven rural info centers in the villages of Miliva, Medvedja, Vojnik, Veliki Popovic, Panjevac, Strmosten and Stenjevac, as well as the Local Action Group (LAG). The line of activities of LAG will establish cross-sectoral cooperation of agricultural and non-agricultural organizations of Despotovac Municipality with the aim of supporting development of the rural areas of the municipality. Cross-sectoral cooperation will set the base for a better quality work of the Tourist Organization through the support of the rural info centers and possibilities of promotion of rural and tourist potentials of Despotovac Municipality, which will simultaneously contribute to diversification of agricultural production, primarily in the direction of development of rural tourism.

Within the space for exhibition numerous visitors of the Fair could see traditional products and food, old crafts, rural tourism potentials, as well as traditional customs and cultural heritage of Sumadija and Pomoravlje region which was presented by the folklore ensembles “Branislav Nusic” from Resavica and “Sveti Stefan despot Srpski” from Despotovac.
