Regional meeting of the key stakeholders in the tourism of Šumadija and Pomoravlje

On November 25, 2021, a regional meeting of key actors in the development of tourism in Šumadija and Pomoravlje was held in Kragujevac, organized by the Regional Economic Development Agency for Sumadija and pomoravlje. The main topic of the meeting was the establishment of a destination management organization for Šumadija and Pomoravlje. A functional DMO model with a financial plan was presented to the stakeholders. The meeting was attended by representatives of local governments and local tourism organizations, as well as representatives of the private sector. General agreement has been reached with the proposed concept, and in the coming period, legal procedures will be undertaken to establish a transitional model until the full independence of the DMO.

Establishment of the DMO is part of the project "Support to Competitiveness and Tourism Development in Central Serbia - Sumadija and Pomoravlje". The project is being implemented as a pilot within the broader project "#EUForTebe - for cultural heritage and tourism" funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and implemented by the German Organization for International Cooperation GIZ.

Other project activities were presented at the meeting, aimed at defining a marketing plan and marketing mix for three tourism products, identification and presentation of investment opportunities in the field of tourism, as well as training to improve regional capacity to use eTourist systems and potential sources of financing and digital marketing for tourism service providers.
