Regional dissemination event on the project" Making Migration Work for Development (MMWD)"

Regional Economic Development Agency for Sumadija and Pomoravlje, organised a regional dissemination event on the occasion of promotion of MMWD project results, on 12 June 2014, in the hotel Moskva in Belgrade.

In compliance with the main project goals – upgrading of strategic planning in the sectors of labor and employment, social welfare and human capital development taking into account demographic and migration changes and trends, as well as development of transnational dialogue and cooperation in these sectors – the participants were  the relevant key actors from local and national levels, as well as foreign partners from project countries.

There were over 50 attendants, representatives of local municipalities and their LEDoffices, regional development agencies, Serbian statistical office, Ministry of economy, Ministry of education, Serbian European integration office, National agency for spatial planning, GIZ Access, National Employment Service, Social welfare center Solidarnost Kragujevac, Professional upgrading center, CSO representatives and partners from project countries: Italy, Greece, Austria, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova.

Apart from Regional Economic Development Agency for Sumadija and Pomoravlje as the host, official speaches were given by the Serbian European integrations office representative, MsKristina Askovic, with the topic of „South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme – SEE; experience of Serbia and MMWD project“ and MMWD director Ms Anna Colleo. A representative of SORS as the project partner, Mrs. Ljiljana Sekulic, presented population projections for Serbia and for the Region of Sumadija and pomoravlje to 2030, specially developed within the project for the purpose of regional policy scenario. Executive director of REDASP, Mr. Nenad Popovic spoke about migration management and using impact of migrations and demographic change for the purpose of strategic planning of regional and local development by sectors.

One of the most important results of the project is the policy scenario for Sumadija and Pomoravlje, i.e. a forcast of the social and economic reality of the territory taking into account demographic and migration situation and trends, as an important tool for strategic development planning in the sectors of social welfare, labour and human capital development. The policy scenario was presented at the conference as a model, with the goal of raising awareness of relevant stakeholders anddecision makers atall levels about significance of this strategic tool in the processes of sector and strategia planning.
