Serbian partners on the project “Making Migrations Work for Development” – REDASP and Statistics Office of the Republic of Serbia held a meeting regarding the project implementation, on 22 July 2013, in SORS, Belgrade. The partners agreed on the further actions and the role of each partner in the next phase of the project that should produce population projections, scenarios and migration profiles of the SEE partner countries, as well as a platform for transnational dialogue. The forthcoming phase will involve all relevant institutional partners with the active role in planning and implementation of labour and social policies, human capital and migration management, in order to provide valuable input for defining common topics and priorities of the Platform.

The most important expected results of the project are methods and tools for measuring effects of internal and external migrations with the purpose of improvement in managing demographic change in SEE, as well as make appropriate use of migration effects in strategic planning of social and economic development.

The partners from Serbia put joint efforts to provide the most of the project impact in Serbia. Forthcoming is a very important activity which implies creation of projections and scenarios at NUTS1, NUTS2 and NUTS3 levels. Expected is active participation of relevant institutions in transnational dialogues with the goal of defining methodology for demographic change management in the countries and regions that face multiple negative effects of migrations.
