The Road Network 

The road network of Šumadija and Pomoravlje is highly developed. Through the region aside the highway E-75, which is a part of Trans-European corridor 10, a number of major routes pass: E-763 (Ibar highway), and M-23 (Kragujevac-Topola-Beograd). Through the region pass two regional directions: R-102 (Kragujevac - Jagodina - Ćuprija - Paraćin) and R-212 (Kragujevac - Gornji Milanovac - Čačak). 

Total number of main roads passing through the territory of Šumadija and Pomoravlje is 6 and 31 regional routes.

When it comes to rail transportation, main railway line of Serbia passes through Šumadija and Pomoravlje (Budapest - Belgrade - Kragujevac - Niš - Skoplje - Thessaloniki). The most important two railway lines passing through the territory of the Šumadija and Pomoravlje region is the railway to Niš - Pirot and Bulgarian border and another to Niš - Leskovac and Macedonian border. Three kilometers from the highway E-75 and halfway between Belgrade and Niš, there is the largest railway junction in Serbia in the municipality of Lapovo.

Water Supply

Šumadija and Pomoravlje is a rather dry area of the Republic of Serbia, and thus the problem of water supply is pronounced, which in most municipalities is successfully resolved. The best example of a successful solution to this problem is the water supply of the city of Kragujevac, which solved the problem with accumulation systems Grošnica, Gruža and Morava.

The main sources for water supply of municipalities in the region of Šumadija and Pomoravlje are in: Aranđelovac - the source of the village Darosava; Batočina – from the Kragujevac water system; Knić - source Ribeška Glava; Kragujevac has three water supply systems: Moravski, Grošnički and Gružanski; Lapovo – its own source; Rača - two sources: along the left bank of the river Rača and the source Trska; Topola - three sources: Jarmenovci, Vrelo and Božurnja; Despotovac - source ‘Toplik’ in the village of Miliva; Jagodina - the source in the village Ribare; Paraćin and Ćuprija together from the source Sveta Petka, in the village of Izvor (Ćuprija has two additional sources: ‘Nemanja’ and ‘Strelište’); Rekovac – in the locality Donje Polje; Svilajnac – the source ‘Perkićevo’ and system ‘Radošin’.

The Electrification, Gas Supply and Heating System

For the energy supply of Šumadija and Pomoravlje region two public companies are in charge: PD ‘Center’ Ltd Kragujevac and JP ‘Electrodistribution’ Ltd Kraljevo.

PD ‘Center’ Ltd Kragujevac covers municipality of Batočina, Lapovo, Knić, Rača and Kragujevac, while the jurisdiction of JP ‘Electrodistribution’ Ltd Kraljevo covers the municipality of Aranđelovac, Topola, Svilajnac, Despotovac, Jagodina, Ćuprija, Paraćin and Rekovac.

The main gas distribution pipeline which starts from the north of Serbia, and stretches along the direction of Belgrade - Niš, parallel with the highway E-75, is used for the gas supply of Šumadija and Pomoravlje too. The main distribution facility for Šumadija and Pomoravlje is located in the municipality of Batočina. Total of 7 cities / municipalities of the region is covered by the pipeline network: Aranđelovac, Kragujevac, Lapovo, Jagodina, Paraćin, Svilajanc and Ćuprija. The supply of these cities / municipalities is the responsibility of two companies: ‘Srbija gas’ and ‘Morava gas’.

The Hot-water network, that is, the remote heating system, is present in the cities of Kragujevac and Jagodina and the municipality of Batočina.

The Telecommunications

The entire region of Šumadija and Pomoravlje is covered by broadband Internet, which is distributed by several operators: Telekom Srbija, SBB, KDS Kopernkus, Skynet PLUS, Pogled bly, KDS Limes and Akatel.

All three mobile operators in the Republic of Serbia: MT: S, Telenor and VIP Mobile fully cover the territory of the region.

130 postal units operate in the territory of the Šumadija and Pomoravlje region, and the total number of landline telephone subscribers is around 184.000.
