Sector for Infrastructure Development within the Department for Territorial Development of Regional Development Agency was formed in 2009 with the purpose to provide effective and efficient implementation of infrastructural projects and projects from the field of environment protection, as well as to support identifying and attracting investment funds for financing the projects concerning infrastructure and environment protection. The reason why this sector was formed was underdeveloped infrastructure and inconsistent application of environmental regulations, which caused problems and drawbacks in the process of regional development.

During the short period of its existence the Sector for Infrastructure Development within the Department for Territorial Development realized the following activities:

• Strategic document: Planning of regional infrastructure development for Šumadija and Pomoravlje,  
• Browenfield locations: Identification, gathering and processing data concerning the localities on the territory of Šumadija and Pomoravlje,  
• Activities related to development of The Spatial Plan of the Republic of Serbia and starting the initiative for creating Regional Spatial Plan for the administrative regions of Šumadija, Pomoravlje, Raška and Rasina,  
• Activities related to the development of Territorial Information System based on GIS software solutions (training, data gathering and processing, creating a base of investment locations),  
• Industrial zones: Identification, gathering and processing the data about existing and planned industrial zones on the territory of Šumadija and Pomoravlje,   
• Support for the municipalities in filling SLAP database (training of municipal SLAP coordinators).
