According to the Republican Bureau of Statistics at the end of 2009 the average gross earning at the level of Šumadija district was 45,560 dinars (480 euros), while at the same time, the average gross earning at the level of Pomoravlje district was slightly lower - 41630 dinars (440 euros). The average gross earning in 2009 at the level of Šumadija district was 38942 dinars (410 euros), whereby the growth from the previous year of 8.5% was recorded. On the other hand, the average gross earning in 2009 for the Pomoravlje district was 36629 dinars (385 euros), with the growth of 9.2% compared to year 2008.
Foreign Trade
According to the data provided by the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Kragujevac, the external trade of Šumadija and Pomoravlje, in the past period, is characterized by an increase of its nominal value. Comparing the data relating to the year 2009 with the appropriate data relating to 2002, an increase in imports of 3.4 times was noticed, while the total value of exports increased 3.5 times. Thus, in 2009 the total foreign trade of the region amounted to 697856922 U.S. dollars, where the export-import ratio was 46.9%. However, it should be noted that in 2008 the highest level of external trade in the observed period was reached - 831129423 U.S. dollars, when the export-import ratio was also the highest - 66.8%.
In the structure of imports by countries the largest share which refers to the Republic of Italy - 31.8% Switzerland - 12.6% Federal Republic of Germany - 8.3% and the Republic of Austria - 6.7%. On the other hand countries with the most exports from the region of Šumadija and Pomoravlje are: Bosna I Hercegovina - 17.1%, the Republic of Montenegro - 15.8% Federal Republic of Germany - 8% and the Republic of Slovenia - 7.9%.
In the structure of foreign trade of the Šumadija and Pomoravlje region the following sectors on the import side sub-sectors of manufacturing industry dominate: the manufacture of transport equipment - 22.9%, the manufacture of machines and equipment - 17.7%, the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products - 14.7% the manufacture of basic metals and standard metal products - 11.2%.
Similar to import, in the structure of export sub-sectors of manufacturing industry dominate: Manufacture of other machines and equipment - 13.8%, manufacture of basic metals and standard metal products - 13.4%, manufacture of electrical and optical equipment - 12.5%, manufacture of food products and beverages - 12%.

According to the data of the Agency for Business Registers at the end of 2009 in the region of Šumadija and Pomoravlje 5247 enterprises and 15,924 entrepreneurs were active.

The structure of the companies, registered in the territory of the region, shows that the majority of companies belong to sectors of trade and manufacturing industry, to which 40.3% refer in order and 23.2% of all enterprises in the region..
In the section of manufacturing industry the majority of companies operating within the sub-sector of food products and beverages manufacturing - 21.4%, basic metals and metal products manufacturing- 14.5%, cellulose and paper manufacturing and publishing activities - 9%, wood and wood products processing - 8.3% and manufacture of other non-metallic minerals - 8.1%.

Similar to the structure of enterprises the structure of entrepreneurs by sectors shows the dominance of the trade sector and manufacturing industry within which 37.2% operates, that is 18.7% of entrepreneurs in the region.
Among active entrepreneurs, who operate within the sector of manufacturing industry, the largest number of them produce food and beverages - 23.5%, basic metals and fabricated metal products - 14.3% and textiles and textile products - 12.2%.
Employment / Unemployment
According to the National Employment Service at the end of 2008 in the territory of the Šumadija and Pomoravlje region a total of 128,380 employed individuals had been registered, of which 43% were women. Observing separately by districts, the number of employees in Šumadija region amounted to 68107, while at the same time the number of employed individuals in the Pomoravlje district was 30273.
If the structure of employed individuals by sectors is observed, it can be concluded that the same sectors, both in Šumadija and in Pomoravlje District, participate in the employment of the majority of the population. Here is particularly noteworthy the sector of manufacturing industry as the dominant sector by the number of employees. Namely, this sector in the total employment of population of the region participates with 34%. This high percentage, related to the manufacturing sector, is largely a result of several decades long tradition, existing particularly in the field of metal processing industry and non-metals industry. The following sector by its presence in employment is the sector of health and social care to which 13.6% of employed individuals refers to. The trade sector is one of the most dominant sectors by the number of trade entities in the territory of the region. However, the participation of this sector is not equally transferred to the employment of the population, thus the sector employs 10.9% of the employed individuals.
According to the data provided by the National Employment Service at the end of the year 2009. in the territory of the Šumadija and Pomoravlje region a total of 62840 unemployed individuals had been registered, of which 35754 in Šumadija district and 27086 in Pomoravlje district. The proportion of female population in the total number of registered unemployed was 55.3%.
